If you had had a breast implant you may like to know how much extra weight you now carry. With this calculator, you don’t need to rack your brain to solve this with some mathematical formula. We have done the hard work for you, using a formula that has been proven to be correct by experts. You only need to input 1 or 2 details and the Breast Implant Weight Calculator will estimate how much your breast implants weigh.
The Breast Implant Weight Calculator factors in the 2 types of implants available.
The Two Types of Implants Available on our Calculator
The two main types of implants that people use are saline and silicone implants. Both of them have 2 different formulas.
1. Saline Implants
With saline implants, the shell is filled with sterile saline water. During the surgery, the implants can be inserted empty and then filled with the saline solution to achieve the desired volume. Saline implants have been used for many years and are known for providing a natural feel and appearance.
2. Silicon Implants
Silicone implants are pre-filled with silicone gel that closely resembles the feel of natural breast tissue. These implants are available in different shapes, sizes, and profiles to suit individual preferences. Silicone implants are popular due to their ability to provide a more natural look and texture, offering a soft and realistic feel.
Both saline and silicone implants have their own unique characteristics, and the choice between the two ultimately depends on your personal preferences and the recommendations of your plastic surgeon.
It’s important to have open and thorough discussions with your surgeon to understand the advantages and considerations of each type to what you want.
That being said, how can you get the appropriate weight for your implant? Check the next section to see that.
How to Calculate the Weight of a Saline Implant
Calculating the weight of a saline implant is a process that you can easily perform on your own. You can estimate the weight of a saline implant by using the information below:
1. Determine the volume
Start by knowing the volume of the saline implant you are considering. This volume is typically measured in cubic centimeters (cc) and represents the amount of saline water inside the implant.
2. Consider the density
The density of the saline solution used to fill the implant is approximately 1.005 grams per cubic centimeter (gr/cc). This density value allows you to estimate the weight of the saline-filled implant.
3. Calculation
Multiply the volume of the saline implant in cubic centimeters by the density of the saline solution (1.005 gr/cc).
For example, if you have a 300 cc saline-filled breast implant, the estimated weight would be approximately 300 cc x 1.005 gr/cc = 301.5 grams.
4. Conversion to pounds
If you prefer weight measurements in pounds, you can convert the weight from grams to pounds. One pound is approximately equal to 454 grams. For instance, using the weight of 301.5 grams, we can calculate the weight in pounds as 301.5 grams / 454 grams = 0.664 pounds.
Please note that this is the calculation of one implant.
How to Calculate the Weight of a Silicon Implant
Similar to the calculation for saline implants,
1. Determine the volume you want to calculate
After determining that, in the same way as a saline calculation, the volume is typically measured in cubic centimeters (cc) and represents the amount of silicone gel inside the implant.
2. The density
Unlike the saline implant, the density of silicon implants is quite different. For this, the density of the silicone used to fill the breast implant is approximately 0.98 grams per cubic centimeter (gr/cc).
3. Here’s how the calculation goes
Multiply the volume of the silicone implant in cubic centimeters by the density of the silicone (0.98 gr/cc).
For example, if you have a 300 cc silicone gel-filled breast implant, the estimated weight would be approximately 300 cc x 0.98 gr/cc = 294 grams.
4. Conversion to pounds
In like manner, if you prefer weight measurements in pounds, you can convert the weight from grams to pounds, (1 Ib equals 454 grams).
How Does the Breast Implant Weight Calculator Work?
Here’s how the Breast Implant Weight Calculator works:
- Select the type of implant used
As we’ve said, there are two types available on the calculator; saline and silicon. Select whichever one you are using.
- Enter the volume of the implants in cubic centimeters (cc)
You can do that by simply clicking on the box to input it.
- Choose to calculate with or without the shell
For the option with a shell, use the slide bar to determine the weight of the shell.
- Results
The calculator goes ahead to calculate the weight of your implants for 2 either with or without shell. It provides your result in grams, pounds, and kilograms.
Although there are approximations of both saline and silicone implants based on their calculations, the calculator allows you to select the cc and the weight of the shell.
The Goal is Your Comfort
Giving you a tool that can help you in achieving your desired aesthetic is what we can offer. We hope the calculator can help you in getting the weight of the implant you want. We also hope you talk to your surgeon regarding what your needs are. Good luck!
